Grocery-anchored retail center proposed in Durbin Park

The site plan does not identify the 30,000-square-foot grocer, which the developer says is not Sprouts.

This report was updated May 22 with information from developer Regency Centers.

A retail center with a 30,000-square-foot grocery store is planned in the Durbin Park area of St. Johns County, but plans do not identify the tenant.

While it matches the size of Sprouts Farmers Market, the developer said May 22 the grocer is not the tenant.

"Sprouts is a great operator, but has not been a part of this project. We will make that announcement in the near future," said Eric Davidson, communications director with Jacksonville-based Regency Centers.

Another grocer that could fit within that size range is Whole Foods Market.

Davidson said he could not "speak to any specific anchor just yet."

St. Johns River Water Management District and St. Johns County are reviewing the project.

Gate Petroleum, through Durbin Creek National LLC, owns the land. Jacksonville-based Prosser | Prime AE is the civil engineer.

According to site plans, in addition to the grocery anchor, there is an attached 25,000-square-foot retail tenant, two buildings totaling 31,000 square feet and four retail pads ranging from 2,500 square feet to 7,900 square feet.

The site is at East Peyton Parkway off Racetrack Road across from UF Health Durbin Park.
