City Council will consider an ordinance to appropriate $2.2 million for replacement and repair of critical systems at TIAA Bank Field necessary for the 2020 Jacksonville Jaguars season and other events.

Ordinance 2020-250 would amend the 2020-24 Capital Improvement Program and transfer the money from the city general fund to the project.

The scope of work comprises $1.2 million to improve the stadium’s field lighting system and repair the light towers to comply with NFL and broadcasting standards; $250,000 to repair field drainage pipes to prevent potholes and ensure safety; and $750,000 for repair or replacement of elevator and escalator components to ensure fan safety and experience.

The ordinance requests one-cycle emergency passage to ensure the repairs can be made before the Jaguars’ season begins.
