Bath & Body Works is moving across River City Drive at St. Johns Town Center into the former Microsoft Store space.

The retailer said construction started June 6 and that it plans to open Sept. 10.

It is a larger space for the body care, home fragrance, hand soaps and sanitizers retailer. Customers typically line up for the annual three-wick candle sale before Christmas that the company calls “pure candle-monium.”

The city approved a permit June 6 for Horizon Retail Construction of Sturtevant, Wisconsin, to renovate 5,040 square feet of space at 4791 River City Drive, No. 113, for Bath & Body Works at a cost of $906,088.

Bath & Body Works now leases about 3,000 square feet at 4663 River City Drive, No. 113, a previous permit showed.

The Microsoft Store opened Nov. 22, 2013. Permits showed that Microsoft built-out 4,975 square feet at 4791 River City Drive, spaces 107-113.

The store closed in late March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Microsoft Corp. announced June 26, 2020, it would permanently close all of its physical store locations.

Bath & Body Works Inc. is based in Columbus, Ohio.
