Bank OZK is preparing to open its fourth area branch now that the city issued a permit for it in the Regency area of Arlington.

The city issued a permit July 1 for W.H. Bass Inc. of Johns Creek, Georgia, to renovate the 4,000-square-foot bank branch building and drive-thru at a project cost of $668,243. James Dickason Architecture LLC of Sarasota is the architect.

The building was developed in 2007 on 1.4 acres at 9610 Hutchinson Park Drive in the Kendall Town area.

The site is north of Regency Square Mall and east of the Southside Connector.

The branch was built as a Branch Banking and Trust Co. location. When SunTrust Banks Inc. and BB&T Corp. merged in 2019, they chose Truist as the name for the new company.

Truist Bank sold the property to investors in 2023 for $1.5 million, and that group sold it to Bank OZK for $2.3 million on Aug. 8, 2024.

Bank OZK, a regional bank based in Little Rock, Arkansas, has three branches operating in Jacksonville and the Beaches.

It opened at 12550 San Jose Blvd. in Mandarin, 6072 Youngerman Circle in Southwest Jacksonville near Orange Park and at 3288 S. Third St. in Jacksonville Beach.

At Youngerman Circle, Bank OZK renovated space for a 3,502-square-foot office at a project cost of $875,767. The location is at southwest Interstate 295 and Blanding Boulevard.

Bank OZK bought that building Jan. 4, 2022, for $2 million from 121 Financial Credit Union.

In Mandarin, Bank OZK renovated an office building at a construction cost of $830,907. The 2,668-square-foot office was built in 2001 on 1.47 acres.

Bank OZK bought that building from 121 Financial Credit Union for $2 million in a sale that closed Oct. 12, 2021.

At Jacksonville Beach, Bank of the Ozarks bought property from an investor for $1.55 million in a sale that closed March 1, 2018. The 4,830-square-foot bank was built in 1989.

It had been several bank branches before that.

“Bank OZK recognizes Jacksonville as an important growth market and we look forward to enhancing our presence so we can provide more clients with best-in-class solutions to their banking needs,” Bank OZK said in a statement in January 2022.

Bank OZK says its roots date back to 1903 as a small community bank in Jasper, Arkansas. It has grown to more than 240 offices in nine states and more than $38 billion in assets.

As of March 31, 2025, Bank OZK had 234 banking offices in six states.

In Florida, it has 41 offices in 28 cities.
