Zaxbys is opening another to-go-only restaurant in Jacksonville, this one at 6733 103rd St. in Westside.

Franchisee Cash Jasz Inc. and Ronald Gosselin plan to develop the building on a Walmart Supercenter outparcel between Blanding Boulevard and Interstate 295.

The city is reviewing a building permit for Hat Creek Construction & Development Inc. of Glenville, Georgia, to build the almost 2,000-square-foot double-drive-thru restaurant on 1.12 acres at a project cost estimated at $750,000.

Plans also show a walk-up window.

Hill Foley Rossi and Associates LLC of Duluth, Georgia, is the architect. Goodson Bergen and Associates of Jacksonville is the civil engineer.

A pair of drive-thru only concepts are in development in West Jacksonville: A Zaxbys at 6733 103rd St. and a 7Brew coffee at 6730 103rd St.

The site currently is an asphalt parking lot owned by Jacksonville Family Center LLC.

The franchisee announced Nov. 18 it opened a to-go-only Zaxbys restaurant at 9031 New Kings Road in the Dinsmore area of Northwest Jacksonville at northeast New Kings Road and I-295.

The restaurant offers drive-thru and walk-up service with no dining room.

The restaurant franchise is owned and operated Aaron and Tihesha Mitchell through Cash Jasz Inc. They said in the news release it was the first Zaxby’s to-go-only restaurant in Florida.

The site plan for the Zaxbys at 6733 103rd St.

Zaxbys opened its first two corporate-owned to-go-only prototypes in 2022 in Memphis, Tennessee, and in 2023 in Clemson, South Carolina. The first franchise-owned to-go-only restaurant opened in June 2023 in Athens, Georgia.

“As we unveil this reimagined Zaxbys location, we’re looking forward to making a lasting impact on the community as a valued neighbor by partnering with local schools and organizations to give back,” the Mitchells said in the release.

Ronald and Jessica Gosselin of Jacksonville own that property.

Property records show the building is 1,690 square feet on 1.2 acres. The news release says the building is 2,004 square feet.

Hat Creek Construction was the builder.

The Zaxbys smartphone app can be used to place pick-up orders. Orders also can be delivered using UberEats, DoorDash or Grubhub.

The restaurant expects to hire 50 workers.

Zaxbys, founded in 1990, specializes in chicken and salads. There are 950 locations in 17 states. Its headquarters is in Atlanta.
