St. Augustine restaurant 17 King American Bistro announced it is planning a May 1 grand opening.
A March 30 Instagram post indicated the new concept, which previously operating as The Harvest restaurant, is open.
The new restaurant draws its name from its address, 17 King St. in downtown St. Augustine. The site is south of the Bridge of Lions and less than a block south of The Plaza de la Constitución, a historic three-block public park and community gathering spot that hosts special events and local vendor markets.

An April 19 news release says the grand opening event is open to the public and scheduled 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Food, wine tastings and giveaways are planned, along with live music starting at 3 p.m. Reservations are recommended.
According to the release, the dining experience is designed to be “polished yet approachable.”
“Our goal with 17 King American Bistro is to create an immersive and memorable dining experience,” owner Gary McGeddy said in the release. “We have this gorgeous wine library that’s a centerpiece of the space. It was natural for our wine program to be one of the main pillars of the concept.”

Chef Landry Wyatt, of Gainesville, curated the menu, which includes tempura asparagus, grilled shrimp polenta, a one-half pan-seared crispy chicken dish and duck pappardelle.
The restaurant also has a full bar with craft cocktails as well as a selection of wines and domestic and international beers. The space features a small wine tasting table, where diners can purchase bottles to go.
McGeddy said live music is planned daily.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, according to the restaurant’s website. The closest street parking is on King Street at the intersection of Aviles Street and the closest parking lot is a gravel lot behind the Trinity Parish Church on the corner of St. George Street and Artillery Lane.
