Venus Fashion Inc. notified state officials that it is permanently laying off 120 workers at its fulfillment center at 1 Imeson Park Blvd. in North Jacksonville.

The swimwear and women’s apparel company is headquartered at 11711 Marco Beach Drive in the EastPark business park on Jacksonville’s Southside.

The letter sent under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act said the layoffs will take place no earlier than Oct. 10.

Venus sent the letter on Aug. 10 but it was not posted on Florida’s WARN website until Sept. 2.

The letter gave no reason for the layoffs.

Venus told the Daily Record two years ago it employed 300 people at the Northside distribution center and 600 at its headquarters.

It also had a fashion design office in Boca Raton that employed 50.
